In room 19 we have had to research about the country for the rugby world cup. We were given New Zealand.
“Where is New Zealand in the world?” asked Racheal.
“Well New Zealand is in Oceania,” replied Gabby.

“Do you have a favorite rugby player in the New Zealand team?”.
“Yes! My favorite player in the All Blacks is Ma’a Nonu,.Who is your favorite rugby player?” I asked.

“My favorite rugby player is the key player Daniel Carter, I like him because of his awesome kicks,.What is the capital of N.Z?”.
“Well the capital of N.Z is Wellington,”

“What is the population of N.Z?”
“The population is 4.4 million people,”

“Does N.Z have a nation dish?”
“Yes this is my favorite bit about food!”. The dish is nation wide and it is called Hangi that is when you gather food such as potatoes, kumara, pork and many more vegetables and cook it in the ground .Are there any other things that you want to know about N.Z,”

“Yes what is the meaning of the flag?”
“In the top left hand corner is a bit of the England flag because of the royal family and the four stars represent the southern cross,”.

Silly Sports Day

"Do we have Sports day today?" I yelled "how come our class didn't know about it?" I question Sharon. "This was really unexpected" I thought to my self, but at the same time really exciting, I wanted to see what sort of Sports that they were going to line up for today.

On Tuesday team five got all lined up and ready for a fun session of Silly Sports. We all strolled over to the bottom field where the equipment was set up, this was going to be exciting.

First up A Ball On A Spoon, it sounds easier than it is. We had to have partners with our legs tied together with a piece of sheet. My partner was Leni. "Ahhhhh!" Leni yelled as we both fell over with our ball rolling away from us. I tripped up on her leg and almost face planted on the ground "haaaa" I sighed, that was close.

With water splashing everywhere I didn't want to play I was still in my uniform. We got put into teams, the people in my team didn't know how to do team work. Jonty was mucking around, he was taking for ever just to squeeze out the water from the sponge into the bowl. Leni and I had soaked shoes because of all the boys in our team. It was fun because it was a hot day and that was the only water activity.

We hopped on to the next activity, Mrs Langitupu's objective of the game was to catch and get out the other players in the opposite team with out moving with the ball in your hand. There were four teams Blue, Yellow, Red and Green, I was in the Yellow team. The first colour we played against was green, we won then the next colour that we played against was Blue. No-wonder why the other team got out so fast because they were all boys except for Millney, she was the only girl because they were all boys and they knew how to communicate with each other. When it was their turn with the ball they were as fast as a hare, they got my team out in just minutes.

My favorite Silly Sport on that day was Mrs Nua's game because she had water involved with it and because it was really enjoyable.

I have been learning about the basics of the countries Madagascar, Barbados and Thailand. Theses countries aren't qualified in the world cup. We have had to research about them on a web site called C.I.A it is a web site that has facts about countries from all over the world. Soon will be researching about one of theses countries that we choose to pick out of. there are around about 80 countries that didn't qualify. We had to find out the capital city,population of the country,the flag,if its a continent and the national sports that they play. The country that i picked was Madagascar.

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.

For this unit we are in one of four teams: Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers. My team is Rebels. There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.

Benjamin Franklin the inventor of the Glass Armonica, Bifocals , Stove top, and many more . Franklin did not attend any university as he stayed home.

Born in Boston January 17th 1706 Benjamin Franklin the famous inventor. The tenth child of Joshiah Franklin the Soap marker and Abiah the mother of Benjamin Franklin. He died on April 17th of 1790 at 84 years old.

Ben was having trouble seeing at an old age trying to see close up and in the distance . Not much is said about he Milestone

Benjamin Franklin’s invention was important because he helped people to see, to cook , and to help them do a whole lot of other things. Ben helped his brother to print things out to.

With all my family waiting at the door for my aunt to come. We all had butterflies and we were sure that they would have too.“Surprise!” my whole family yelled as my aunt walked through the door with her new born baby in her hand and her two kids on each side of her. There was party poppers everywhere and two tables full of food. Balloons were flying around the house and everyone was just really happy to see my aunt that came form Australia and we hadn't seen her in three years.

10 mins later I saw the head lights of another car coming up it was a long black car with two massive wheels on it that were spreed along it was a limo What I exclaimed whats a limo doing up here then out came Prince Williams, Prince Harry, Princess Kate and Queen Elizabeth everyone was screaming and we all sat around and ate with them.

Kiwi Glen Martin is the inventor of the Martin Jet pack that can fly like a bird.

The Jet pack wasn't flying that high that the U.S media laughed and joked around about his invention that made him more determined to make it happen.

He said he would use a remote machine to control it at first with a crash dummy, then if its good enough than a person can act as pilot.

The Martin Jet pack that flew at Ashburton recently with a rocket propelled parachute flying over 5,000 mt high above sea level and landed safely.

This invention can do what a helicopter cant do such as fly around the sides of a cliff in between sides of a building and trees.

Karl Benz was the inventor of the first motor car that was made without a horse having to pull it along. Cars that are made today are different from the cars that were made around 50 - 100 years ago. In ways they are improved by being Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger. They are now Bigger like a four wheel drive, better because it now has a roof , steering wheel , and four wheels not three. Faster like a Ferrari and Stronger with horse power .

Last term I wasn't pleased with myself as I didn’t really finish my work off. I talked a lot to my friends. My attitude was alright but it wasn’t good enough for me. The highlight for me last term was getting our new Net Books. My worst improvement last term was not finishing my work and talking too much.

This term I am looking forward to taking our Net Books home and working on them. I will finish my work now that we will be taking them home. Last Term I really liked to play games that’s why I didn’t finish my work off. I will also be looking forward to playing Rugby this season

My thoughts about Camp.

The count down is starting just 3 more days until camp. “YEAH!!!” I cant wait to see what sort of activities that we are doing. I have huge butterflies in my stomach I just cant wait. The camp name for this year is could “Take Charge”. Being the first year 8’s is really cool because we are doing different things from last years camp.

The group that I am in is Responsiablez. There are other groups like Respectablez , Carez, Motavatiez, and the Thinkers. Yesterday we did some group challenges the first one was make up a group chant and the second one was to get across the hall with 4 chairs stuck together , 4 class chairs and one mat. The first time we did it we failed the second time we did we made it. I cant wait until Camp.

Surf Life Saving At Mairangi Bay

“Where’s Mairangi bay?” I asked Ocean “I dont know” she answered. On Friday the 19 th the year 7’s went on a trip to mairangi bay for our water safety .

“Whoo!” it’s cold. As I stood out of the bus trying to keep warm my arms had goose bumps all over it “far out its freezing” I said. Walking up the stairs still trying to keep warm we all went and sat in a room the room was sandy and still cold. The three ladies stood their and one by one introduced themselves by saying their name and which beach they are from.

“Ahhhh!” Sharon stop it” Sharon was dinging my legs up in the sand it felt wet and soft. “Raaa!’’ I yelled and smashed out of the sand then I was free. Then along came Ngaina and threw the sand at my neck and my neck felt so so rough.

“Whooo hooo!” the waves rushed over to me as i got ready to ride them i jumped on my board and rode for a good 10 seconds. The waves left me coughing . The day in the water was full of laughter, screams and coughs from the waves. That was my highlight of the day.

This is a Millipede. As you may know the Millipede has thousands of legs. The name “Millipede” is a Latin name. “Milli” means thousands and “pede” means legs. They have long smooth segments (a part of the body that can be separated or cut off). When disturbed they curl themselves up. Millipedes have two pairs of legs on each side. Unlike Centipede’s they only have 1 pair of legs on each side. Finally the Maori name for the Millipede is “Werimano’’.

The Simpson's is a family of five. They also have a black cat and brown dog. My favorite family member on the Simpson's is Homer he is my favorite because he loves to eat and eating is also my favorite thing to do too. His most loved food is Dunkin Doughnuts. That is one of my most loved foods too. My favorite Dunkin Doughnut is the Cream Barbarian and those little Munchkins. Lisa is the intelligent one out of Bart and Homer. Marge is the mum she is just like Lisa in every way. Maggie is the youngest of the three she will some day turn out like her mum and her sister Lisa. Bart is just like his father.

This morning Ms T said to us to choose a partnerand a multiple intelligences blooms taxonomy. Together Maree and I created a board game using the higher level of thinking Creating, working on Visual /Spatial intelligences. To creat this board game we used Hyper Studio 5. The time that we were given was 2 hours and 50 minsthis is what Maree and I came up with. We had fun with this challange.

Mt Taranaki DLO

This term we are learning about volcanoes.

We looked at the legend of Mt taranaki and we had to create a DLO . All the groups got to choose what they wanted to do. Our group wanted to do green screening but we didn't know how to. We made mountain puppets for our movie.

My group members were April, Etta, Ocean and i. We worked really well and completed our task.

Next time we need to plan what we are doing before we do it.

An afternoon with Ms T

Check out our exceptional reward. It was Friday the 23 rd of April . Feki , April and I went with Ms T because we were the top students from last term in our class. April and I are the top Pocasters and Feki is our class Maths master. Ms T takes the top students in our class . We went to Kohimarama beach to eat. We ate huge burgers , hot chips and hot dogs, the burger was really delectable. Later we went off to Sylvia Park and went to the Cheapies shop and we got five dollars to spend each. Finally we had some chocolate ice cream and headed off home. Check out what we did.

''Hey guess what! '' We had a spectacular camp and it was fun . It was called Camp Kindness and it was great. We did a lot of fun activities and they were all Choice!. To kick off our start to our days of camp we did some Jump Jam and it was i was so so tiered of doing it. .Waka Ama was a great activity too and we learnt how to communicate with each other.
The next day our activity was a surprise everyone couldn't wait to see what it was ."Wow! look" I exclaimed to April with excitement. There it was it looked so fun they called it The Log Joust.That looked like a fun game to play .Savannah was the instructors name and we read out the rules the main rule was no hitting the head and that was my focuses on the game.I was so nervous but I just couldn't wait for my turn which was next.Then the time came Damien's turn was done so I put on my helmet and grabbed my shied and my weapon I climbed up. Then whistle had gone. ''Boom Bang!'' I hit Shontals leg three times ''ahhh!'' she screamed as she fell down ."Yeah I won I whispered to myself"there were two other activities and they were called Archery and The Dunker. But I really liked the Log Joust.

First she picked us up and we had breakfast .For breakfast we had a hot choclate with marsh malos and a nice pices of cake it was nice and spongey.seacond we played sing star . Thiredjumend into the van and we all went to the Zoo. When we got outside of the Motat Spar parking we parked the car there and caught the tram to the Zoo. Weeat then we headed off to the to Giraff's they were so tall . My favoiut animal is the sea lions they swam in a cold cold water.

That was an absolutely great flip Shawn Johnson done on the balance beam she was om the opposite side of the beam it was an amazing flip.

Shawn Johnson is a gymnast she is 16 she was Born in 1992 the 1st of the 19Th. Shawn started gym when she was only 3. Shawn's highest achievement so far is being in the Junior team.

Shawn Johnson is a kind and caring girl her personalty is good.

She dose sit ups push up and likes the beam Shawn Johnson is fearless.

Shawn Johnson's support is MC Donald's, coca cola,Adda's, Hy Vee, and many more.

She has no time with family and no time with friends.

CONCLUSION; So Shawn Johnson was able to be a champion because she trained hard and won medals.

All of a sudden the drums went boom boom bang we are beijing it is the capatil of china the lights went on 2008 traditonal chinese drummers were all going at the same time.The drums were vibrating. The fireworks with foot prints it was big infact there was 29 of them it lead us to the bird nest stadium. The fairies wer colouerful they were flying and something amazing happen the olmypic rings were flying by it self. There were 56 other countrys in china there was also a little girl singing she was only nine years old. There was a tia chi woman she was flexible.

Ow my legs are getting a cramp I said to Helen Tupo as we were practising for cross country. I was tired as if i had been runing for hours my shoes were geting undone my toes were saw and my heart was pounding. I was getting thirsty and I was getting hanger.

When we started Helen tupos time and mine was 11;41;00 and our 2ND time was 11;43;15 sec.

Yesterday the Y-1 team came to Pt England they were singing rock songs and doing lots of cool things. The Y-1 team got a few people up on the stage and they started to play rock,paper, scissor there were two girls and two boys and the Y-1 team did lots of things it was fun.

At Motat we looked at lots of Richard Pearse's planes and we found out lots of things like finding out about when Jean Batten was a little girl. We looked at Sir Keith Park's first plane and we took a photo of the plane. When we went to mo tat 2 it was very exiting first we ate our lunch then we went inside and talked about the sorts of planes that were there. Then we just did an experiment making an aerofoil and it was the same one we did at school.

Hi my name is Gabrielle and this year camp was called Camp Care a lot. MRS NUA was the boss
of our camp this year. My camp members and I were going to sleep on the first night out on the field. In the mornning we had to wake up early and do some jogging. We ran for fitness every morning.
When we went to our activities we had to get other people's mum or dad to drop us off. We had this camp at 130 Point England Road at Point England School.
